1820 Census Hampshire County, Virginia

In 1820, Joseph Kenney (#37) was living in Hampsphire County, Virginia with his second wife, Susan Buzzard. His first wife (Francis "Fanny" Moore (#38) had died ~ 1807. He married Susan in 1811. The census record shows that living in the household were one "Free white male of ten and under sixteen"[Note: This may be John, a son from his first marriage], one "Free white male between sixteen and eighteen"[Note: This may be Albert (#19), born in 1803 and a son from his first marriage.], three "Free white males of sixteen and under twenty-six, including heads of families", one "Free white male of twenty six and under forty-five, including heads of families"[Note: this is likely Joseph Kenney], four Free white females under ten years" [Note: These are Joseph and Susan's daughters: Elizabeth, Susan, Mary, and Catherine], 1 Free white female of sixteen and under twenty-six including heads of families", one "Free white female of forty-five and upwards, including heads of families". Two were the "Number of persons engaged in Agriculture" and three were the "Number of persons engaged in Manufactures". There was two slaves, one "Male under fourteen" and one Female under fourteen." [Note: It is unknown whether Susan was "Under twenty-six" or "forty-five and upwards", but she had had four daughters in less than the last 10 years. It would seem more likely that she was under twenty-six and younger than Joseph. ] (The source of all typed information in pink is research obtained from numerous court documents and other sources by Doug Hart, a descendant of Albert G. Kenney).
